Eastern Conference All-Star Squee Team!

Alright, so here’s the deal, my wonderful HLOG sister, KMS2 came up with the wonder idea to do an All-Star Squee Team for each conference…so here are my picks. If you want to see hers Eastern is here and Western is here. What you have to do is choose a line up…1 goalie, 2 defensemen, a left winger, right winger, and a center.

GOALIE - None other than Vesa Toskala! KMS2 decided to go with Lundqvist but he doesn’t stand a chance next to Vesa. Alright, so yes he DID get traded to the Leafs, but, I still you can deny that level of hottness….right?!? And, not to even mention his stats. He is great and CLEARLY the only choice for goal in the Eastern Conference.

DEFENSEMEN – Shane O’Brien aside from being an absolutely adorabe guy, he is a favorite of, Finny he is also a home town boy. He spent some time in Cincinnati playing with the Cincy Mighty Ducks. I remember him as the guy who would go to the bench and look up into the stands and wave and wink at some of the ladies in the audience. The other defenseman is Chris Campoli he kind of reminds me of Sheldon Souray a bit…but he is absolutely fabulous.

CENTER – Zach Parise this Devil is probably one of the hottest guys I have ever seen in my life. That’s all that needs to be said.

LEFT WING – Alexander Semin not only is this guy amazing on the ice. But, he is also quite attractive…and how can you not like a guy who does something like, throw the puck at the net…how could you not want a bad ass like him on your team?!

RIGHT WING – Scottie Upshall ok so maybe that picture doesn’t do it for ya but he is pretty gosh darn hot, and since his trade from the Preds to the Flyers things have been looking up for this little guy. He is starting to develop into a great player.

So there ya have it folks. And, by the way KMS2 was right this is a lot harder than it looks. I may have the Western Conference up tonight because I’m out of town and just layin around.

Just a random thought…

So the trade deadline came and went but it still left me a bit confused especially after the Ryan Smyth trade…which I have already talked about. Anyway, here’s what I have been thinking about. What’s the difference between a fans love for the player/team and a players love for his fans? A fan, well a true fan, loves their team win or lose. They are there when they have been shut out 13 times in one season…with 17 games left to play…I’m not bitter. A player I think loves the game more than he loves us fans. He is grateful he has fans but even if he didn’t he would still love the game. Do you think it really hurts these players when they leave? I’m sure it does…but it’s probably not in the way we think. I have talked to my friends in various leagues (NHL, WHL, ECHL, and AHL) about how they feel when they are traded and to my surprise they don’t really care. It kind of ruined it for me. I think us fans have these players built up so much in our mind that oh they love us, they love the town, they love their teammates; which I’m not saying they don’t. But if these guys have a chance to win…they want to do that. One of my closest friends told me when I talked about how I felt sorry for Scottie Upshall because he went from the best team in the league to the worst…he said don’t feel bad for him. Yes, he left the best team in the league but on that team he was surrounded by amazing players, and not getting enough ice time to show what he could do. Now where he is he is able to prove himself as a hockey player and give him a chance to stay up in the NHL world. So I guess what I’m saying is don’t feel bad for the player that went away. Feel sorry for that player that’s on the best team in the NHL and only getting 5 minutes of ice time. And for us fans…keep loving your team and loving your boys…because no matter what they’re your team and someday…maybe we will win…or at least make it to the playoffs. Anyway, that’s all I have to say…anyone have any other thoughts?

Upshall > Forsberg??

Well if you’d have to go by the first 2 games that these guys played in you would probably think so. Upshall in his first 2 games with Philadelphia has 3 points (2 goals and 1 assist) and Mr. Peter Forsberg has well a goose egg. Alright, I watched the Philadelphia vs Boston game tonight on Versus and it was quite entertaining…this rivalry certainly is still going strong today. Everyone played wonderfully. There were quite a few scrums…anyway not a whole lot to say about this game. Boston won 6-3. Both teams made wonderful efforts and fought really hard. Jeff Carter, Scottie Upshall and Kyle Calder were for sure the high points for the Flyers. That’s a great line. Anyway I am off…have a great night everyone.
