Guess who’s back?!

Oh it’s me. Ok, so I am back after a bit of hiatus from the blog world. Work kept me extremely busy, but, I woke up early because, I feel like I’m slacking if I don’t post. So, here’s what has happened since I last posted.

The Blue Jackets have signed center, Derek MacKenzie and defenseman, Dan Smith, to a one-year, two-way NHL-AHL contracts. Both of these guys are likely meant for the Crunch.

“Derek and Dan are good veteran players who can help out at the NHL level,” Howson said. “How much they’ll play in Columbus is up to them.”

The Columbus Dispatch reported on Wednesday that the Jackets have have struck deals with four of our restricted free agents. Steven Goertzen, Curtis Glencross, Joakim Lindstrom, and Andrew Murray all received two-way contracts. Can I tell you how thrilled I am about this? I love these guys! Especially Glencross, he’s one of my Cincinnati Mighty Ducks boys…and he will always have a spot in my heart.

“All of these guys have a chance to play in the NHL,” general manager Scott Howson said. “They’ll come to training camp with an opportunity to compete for a job.”

The schedules were released yesterday. We will be opening up the season at home on October 5 versus the Stanley Cup Champions the Ducks. If you look at the schedule you will notice it is significantly better than last year having my boys play only 12 times back to back. Also, the pre-season schedule was released.

September 16 Predators at Blue Jackets 5:oo PM
September 18 Blackhawks at Blue Jackets 7:00 PM
September 19 Blue Jackets at Blackhawks 5:00 PM
September 21 Blue Jackets at Sabres 7:00 PM
September 23 Sabres at Blue Jackets 5:00 PM
September 27 Hurricanes at Blue Jackets 7:00 PM
September 28 Blue Jackets at Hurricanes 7:00 PM
September 29 Blue Jackets at Predators 8:00 PM

Hmm, what else has happened since I have left? Crosby got a raise…no comment. Sheldon Souray still has not signed with a team….yawn. Rangers enjoy throwing money to anyone. And that’s really about it. Sorry I was away for a bit.

The NHL Awards

Even though I had to stay up until 11 just to watch the Sid er the NHL Awards show. I kind of enjoyed it. I mean sure, the host was…interesting. It was kind of funny when the interviewer guy forgot Paul Stastny’s name. And, when Sidney Crosby said congrats to Marty and Vinny even though it was Luongo that got nominated. Dumby. Alright, I will run through the winners and who was nominated and what I thought now.

Hart Memorial Trophy (MVP)
*Winner~Sidney Crosby
*Nominated~Roberto Luongo and Martin Brodeur
*Who should have won? Luongo, no guy took his team that far. Luongo didn’t really have the team to work with.

Vezina Trophy (Goalie)

*Nominated~Roberto Luongo, Miikka Kiprusoff, and Henrik Lundqvist
*Who should have won? I personally think the right guy won. He broke records this year…you can’t dispute that.

*Nominated~Scott Niedermayer and Chris Pronger
*Who should have won? Right guy won…you can’t deny a +40.

*Who should have won? Pahlsson or Pandolfo…although Brind’Amour’s speech made me laugh.

*Who should have won? Joe Sakic…no doubt…at least he showed up

Crosby to be named Captain

I will have more information about this when it actually happens but for now it looks like he will be named Captain today. You can read the article here.

UPDATE I was reading at Mirtle’s blog…and he was saying that the reason they are doing it now is so that Crosby can break another record by becoming the youngest Captain ever in the NHL. I think it’s a little ridiuclous to be perfectly honest. I believe Crosby is a great player…he has a TON of skills BUT when it comes to his leadership…I have doubts. Maybe, if I wouldn’t have seen him cry, and whine to the refs after every bad call…I would change my mind. The fact of the matter is this is a mans game and Crosby is still…a boy…disagree with me if you want…but it’s the truth.

Article Here

I may regret this in the morning…

But, Sidney Crosby is up for Time’s 100 Most Influential People *he’s the only hockey player on there* and I really think everyone should go vote for him…the link to the voting is here. I also made a Facebook group here so join that and invite your friends. I know I hate Sidney Crosby but I really think it would be a great thing for the sport if he got voted high up there like in the Top 5. So repost this….tell your friends….do what you gotta do to get the word out.

GO SENS GO

So the babies are going home!! Congrats to the Sens.

ATTENTION ATTENTION

My post today will be about this child. So while you all are in shock I’m sure…I will let you think about it and I will post while I am at work.

**UPDATE 4:33**

Ok, so as we all know I’m a busy girl at work and have decided to put this up in little segments.

Anyway, here’s where I am going to begin. Sidney Crosby believe it or not is playing in his first ever playoff games. Now, the only way you wouldn’t have known this is if you had been living under a rock for the past week. Let me make this statement before I say anything else. I do think Sidney Crosby is good at getting points. Ok, so I have been watching most of the playoff games. And, I am utterly DISGUSTED at how much press he is getting. Every single time I turn on a playoff series they will bring up Crosby. I GET IT! He is a good hockey player but there are others out there. I understand that he is the next one. But, get over it already. Putting him in playoff commercials, putting him on magazines, talking about him all the damn time is getting old. There are other good players who deserve some publicity and for whatever reason are getting over looked. I will even go as far as to say there are other SERIES that are getting over looked entirely because of this kid. It’s not right to the game and to all of the other players to get pushed aside because this kid is playing in his first playoffs.

Now, I have no respect for Sidney Crosby, the I’m on a break away and feel the need to fall on my knees kid…or the I’m going to complain to the ref after EVERY single whistle. (I am almost positive I even saw him cry after they called his goal a no goal) The playoffs are about the game…the playoffs are about the Stanley Cup. To win the Stanley Cup you need to suck it up deal with the fact that the ref called you for a hook, or called you for a trip…or called you for off sides. To win the Stanley Cup you need to be a man and play through that sprained ankle, or play with blood gushing out of your eye (Sean freakin Avery) Anyway, I am so sick of seeing Sidney Crosby and hearing about this little kid in a big mans game. I guess it’s finally gotten to me.

But, here is a message to all broadcasters who have a love affair with Sidney Crosby:

Send him flowers, cookies, hell buy him a freakin car but seriously pay attention to the other people on the ice who are working their asses off to win the series for their team!!!!!!! Hockey is not a one man sport. It’s a team effort. Sidney Crosby did not win those games by himself. He had a whole sleu of men working with him

Let me name some names here of some players who are playing some terrific hockey:

*Kipper for the Calgary Flames…uhm…in case you didn’t notice in the first 2 games against Detroit he was the only one that showed up.

*Chelios the old fart is still playing what is this his 22nd playoff run?!

*Sean Avery uhm…have you seen the way he has been going about the playoffs I freakin love it! And, if I’m not mistaken it’s his first playoff experience…I could be way off.

*Evgeni Malkin ya know that Russian kid running around on the ice with Crosby sometimes…yeah he just had an amazing season for a rookie and maybe he’s not doing good in the playoffs but gosh give him some attention.

*Jordan Staal come on now…he’s on the ice too…kid is amazing.

*Luongo kickin some serious butt in the series against Dallas…ooh it’s his first playoff run too!

*If you guys have anymore to add feel free to leave them in the comments but I really needed to let this out. Thanks for reading.

Why is Marty Biron my new best friend?!

That’s why…it doesn’t get much better than a goalie making fun of Sidney Crosby…hahaha big props to Kristin for finding this one…

I heart my team….

I suppose playoff time is here and I have to decide whether or not I am going to cheer for anyone. So here is the solution that I have come up with. I refuse to cheer for four teams. The first one being of course the Nashville Predators…because as a divisional rival I don’t like them…and my hatred runs deep. The second one is the Dallas Stars. This is a new one for me, with everything that has happened in the past little bit with the organization I have decided that they are a classless organization and that they don’t deserve to win the Stanley Cup and they certainly don’t deserve me to cheer for them. And, besides that Marty Turco seems to be a bit of a joke in the playoffs. Then there is the Pittsburgh Penguins…I know what you’re thinking…they have some of the biggest stars in the game right now why wouldn’t you want them to win. Well it’s simple…I hate Sidney Crosby. And, the last one is none other than the Buffalo Sabres. I don’t like them. So now that I have who, I won’t be cheering for I guess it comes down to whether or not I am going to hop on a bandwagon. Well, no. I refuse, I will cheer for whoever is doing good and who isn’t one of the aforementioned teams. So there ya go…I am hopelessly devoted to my team and will stay that way. Anyway, I wouldn’t mind the Sens winning…I heart Dany Heatley.

Well Pens fans

It’s official you get your new arena…and you’re staying in Pittsburgh…now if you’ll be able to keep Crosby, Malkin, Staal, and Fleury…you’ll be in good shape. So enjoy em while they last. :) Article on the New Arena
I’m going to watch the Pens play the Sabres….how exciting eh 2 of my least favorite teams in the league…anyway I’m still sick…so probably won’t write a lot.

No worries Habs fans…

Ok…well it was for sure an interesting game…living in Northern Kentucky I don’t get to see the Habs play too often…although I am a fan of the team and in all honesty they are my favorite Canadian team. Anyway I was pleasantly surprised with the way they were playing. Man can they ever hit. My mom and I were watching and she’s not the biggest hockey fan in the world and she’s like man those guys are mean. I thought it was kind of funny. I love the games where they hit hard. The Habs did come out with a victory for the first time in 6 games…and my beloved Blue Jackets still haven’t figured out how to stay consistent and to play a full 60 minutes of hockey. In the first period there was no scoring and then in the second period Passy let in 3 goals…I was hoping they would pull him but Hitch didn’t. Then in the third period the Jackets went to work…scoring 2 goals. Montreal’s rookie goalie was solid. I was amazed with Huet being out he could be just the solution for these guys. Gilbert Brule for the Jackets had another very very good game…he even got a goal. He played hard and kept up with these guys. I think that Columbus got into too much penalty trouble. They took 7 penalties I believe….about 3 more than the other games. Anyway good game…good effort by the Habs in the second period and a good effort by the Jackets in the third…and I missed the first period so I don’t really know what happened…sorry I was drivin home from my aunts.

On another game…I don’t have a lot to say….the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals. I have never seen these 2 teams play so I was so excited to watch it. I was impressed of course with Alexander Ovechkin, and Alexander Semin. They played awesome tonight…even though my beloved Ovechkin didn’t get a goal. Malkin and Staal were a lot of fun to watch…and then there is Crosby. I honestly didn’t even notice him on the ice. I don’t know if it was because of my hatred for him or just because he was having a bad game…but honestly I wasn’t impressed…so that’s all I have to say.

I wanna give my three stars of the day….in the 2 games I watched….
1. Jaroslav Halak amazing in his NHL debut
2. Evgeni Malkin so fun to watch
3. Gilbert Brule has really stepped it up

That’s all for the night!!
